The kinetic sculptures of Alexander Calder (1898-1976) are imbued with a mesmerising sense of shimmering presence. Their subtle movements create entirely new possibilities for the medium of sculpture, transforming the static into the mobile and responsive. Three Mobiles after Alexander Calder draws its inspiration and character from three of Calder’s most iconic mobiles. It was commissioned by the Hard Rain SoloistEnsemble with financial support from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and is dedicated to the ensemble and its director Greg Caffrey.
